If there was any place to be on Sunday March 11, 2018, it was at the top of Nob Hill at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco, inside the beautiful Venetian room. San Franciscans were entertained and serenaded by the lovely Liz Callaway. Bay Area Cabaret which is a fourteen year old nonprofit organization that presents Broadway, jazz, and pop vocalists put on a spectacular show, starring Liz Callaway and opening with the very talented Cate Hayman. Cate who is a Bay Area Teen Idol 2016 and Beach Blanket Babylon award-winner opened the evening with a twenty minute set singing beautiful songs like Gorgeous (from “The Apple Tree”), The Man I Love, Hit Me With A Hot Note, and Somewhere Over The Rainbow. She was also joined by Dwight Okamura the orchestral pianist for the Berkeley Symphony, California Symphony, the Skywalker Symphony, and the San Francisco Symphony. The audience was instantly pleased and excited to see the renowned Liz Callaway take the stage.

Liz Callaway is a Tony nominee and Emmy Award-winning actress, singer and recording artist.  This was Liz’s solo debut at the Venetian room. Fans eagerly greeted her as she took the stage and delighted everyone with her pristine voice. As a reviewer, I found her voice to be soothing, enchanting, and uplifting. I felt like I was in a Disney movie and Broadway musical all wrapped in one.  Her performance featured songs from her extensive Broadway career, six solo albums, and fan favorites such as I’ll Be Here (from “Ordinary Days”), Another 100 Lyrics (from “Company”, “Another Hundred People”), Meadowlark (from “the Baker’s Wife), Journey to the Past (from “Anastasia soundtrack”), and The Story Goes On (from “Baby”).  She was also accompanied by multi-award winning musical director Alex Rybeck and a team of accomplished musicians. The harmony in Liz’s voice delivered the music with great passion, inspiration, and emotion. The show was a great success for Bay Area Cabaret and it was a pleasure having all the artists in the city by the Bay.
